Joseph Murray graduated from the University of Guelph in 2008 with an Honours BA in Music. He began his film scoring career shortly thereafter, upon meeting Lodewijk Vos in Toronto and forming MENALON.

The music duo attended the Canadian Film Centre in 2014 chaired by Oscar winner Mychael Danna. Working out of the downtown Toronto art collective MAKE GOOD studios, the pair scored dozens of films, many of which have won awards and screened internationally.

Awarded films include ‘Hot Docs Best Canadian Feature 2017’ for Unarmed Versus (Dir. Charles Officer), ‘Sundance Jury award 2016’ for Bacon & Gods Wraith (Dir. Sol Friedman) and ‘TIFF Best Short Film 2014’ for The Weatherman & The Shadowboxer (Dir. Randall Okita).

Selected television series include, Robyn Hood (GLOBAL), Diggstown (CBC) and Cyberwar (VICE).

Joseph has also contributed audio for various installations including a laser harp designed & built by a team at MAKE GOOD studio, as well as Director X’s 2016 Nuit Blanche sensation ‘Death of the Sun’
